Photojournalism on Interest in Reading Sports News in 2019

Abstract

This study aims to describe the effect of photojournalism on public interest in reading through sports news by interpreting photojournalistic works presented by Waspada daily from July to November 2019. This type of research is a quasi-experimental research. There are 12 photo sample results, with random sampling, after which they are interpreted through theories that correlate with this research. Respondents totalled 30 people with a background of sports lovers. The results showed that there were 96.67% of the public accepted photojournalism to increase public interest in reading while 3.33% did not accept photojournalism as an increase in public interest in reading. Based on the description above, it can be said that the 2019 Waspada daily photo has an influence on increasing reading interest in the community.
